Gokul Chaudhri

Gokul is Partner leading the direct tax practice of the firm.

In his career span of 22 years, Gokul has focused on the energy sector. His professional service experience includes engagements for domestic and international clients, including multi-billion dollar cross border transactions, privatisation initiatives and project advisory for large infrastructure assets. In addition, he is experienced in structuring and presenting (possibly over 400 in number) in-bound foreign investment proposals to the Government of India.

Over the past decade, Gokul has been an active speaker at domestic and international seminars. He is a member of the Institute of Petroleum (now The Energy Institute, London) and Federation of Indian Mineral Industries. He has also authored and presented papers at workshops and conferences on the topic of fiscal policy reforms. He has been a participant and speaker at the investment road shows held in Europe by the Government of India and was also invited by the business forum of the European Commission to speak at Brussels on the reform process in India. He was invited to present to the global boards of two leading European oil companies on the topic of Economy and Energy in India and was a guest speaker at the Federation of German Industries on tax environment in India, and presented on business environment to the US India Business Council.

Gokul has been involved in fiscal reform initiatives by the Government of India, and was a member of the task force on tax reforms for the mining industry.

Gokul is a graduate in Commerce from the University of Mumbai and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1994.
